Miss England, Milla Magee, has made serious allegations against the Miss World Organization following her abrupt departure from the 72nd Miss World pageant held in India. Speaking to The Sun Newspaper, Magee criticized the treatment she received during her time at the competition, stating that she felt exploited and objectified.
In the interview, Magee revealed that she felt “like a prostitute” and claimed she was “farmed out for entertainment” by the organizers. She explained that her decision to exit the competition on May 16—the first withdrawal by a Miss England in the pageant’s 74-year history—stemmed from discomfort over being presented to wealthy male sponsors.
Calling the pageant “outdated,” Magee described an environment where some of the 109 contestants were reprimanded for being “boring.” Initially, her departure was attributed to personal reasons, but her statements now shed light on deeper concerns.
Magee, whose advocacy work has received backing from Prince William, said her goal had been to use the platform for good, to promote change and make a difference. However, she felt the organization did not support those values. She said the final turning point came when contestants were allegedly asked to entertain middle-aged male guests as a token of appreciation for their financial support.
Detailing the situation, Magee said that contestants were seated in pairs at tables of six male guests and were expected to spend the evening entertaining them. “I found that unbelievable,” she said. “I didn’t come here to be farmed out for people’s entertainment.”
Magee concluded by expressing her disillusionment with the pageant, stating that while Miss World claims to promote values, it remains entrenched in outdated practices.
