The reception of Miss Universe in her home country generated great discomfort and disapproval among her national director, who expressed her frustration over the poor planning and lack of communication by the organization of the pageant. Despite having achieved the crown after 73 years, the arrival of the queen from Denmark was practically unnoticed, with only 30 people present at the airport and only one journalist covering the event.
The national director harshly criticized the Miss Universe organization for keeping the details of the queen's arrival secret, publishing information only the day before. This prevented adequate welcome events from being organized, such as galas, charity activities, or photo sessions, which are common in the world of beauty pageants. The frustration was further intensified by the lack of responses to emails in recent months, which led to an insignificant reception that did not reflect the magnitude of the achievement.
This type of situation is extremely unusual in the field of beauty pageants, where queens are usually received by large crowds and celebrations in their home country. I, for example, when I was growing up, could go to three Miss Universe pageants, being received like the stars they were (Dayana, Stefania, and Gabriela) through the signal of @venevision. However, despite this disappointment, the director emphasized that the victory of Denmark in Miss Universe is a historic milestone that cannot be taken away.
