CRITERIA FOR WINNING BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE PROJECT ( BWAP )

BACKGROUND: Beauty with a purpose,  founded 50 years ago by Julia Morley ( CEO OF MISS WORLD) witn the aim of inspires young women to develop or support vital charitable projects all across the world.

It is one of the main aspects of beauty queen to show the world that, beauty pageants not only stands for facial beauty, walk and good makeup, but also strive to raise awareness about necessity of giving back to society.


The following are criteria to consider when preparing for a building project;

1. PROJECT RELEVANCE AND AGENCY 

  • Does the situation require quick attention?
  • How many individuals/subjects are affected?
  • How critical is the issue?
  • Does the project have a clear goal?


2. VERBAL SKILLS OF THE CONTESTANT ( ORAL AND WRITTEN)

  • Is the contestant confident when discussing the subject?
  • How enthusiastic is the contestant when discussing the issue?
  • Are contestant’s statements logical?
  • Does the contestant use extensive vocabulary when discussing the problem and providing solutions?
  • Is the contestant's voice or text dull, or does it keep you engaged at all times?
  • Is the contestant able to evoke emotions in the listener/reader?


3. PROJECT SOCIAL OUTREACH 

  • Has the project been covered by the press, TV, Radio, Internet publications, or sny other form of media ?
  • How effective is the contestant at using social media to spread the work?
  • In order to accomplish the project's objectives, does the contestant collaborate with any NGOs or charitable groups?
  • What has the candidate done to inform the public about the project's issues?


4. VISUAL PRESENTATION 

  • Does the contestant have a professional project video?
  • Does the video include contestant’s statements and interviews with others involved?
  • Does the video effectively convey the issue by using footage from several locations (eg. Hospital,  schools or shelters, as applicable)?


5. LEVEL OF CONTESTANT’S PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT IN THE PROJECT AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THE FIELD

  • Has the contestant invested any of her own money in the project?
  • Has the contestant utilized any of her personal connections to make the project to reach her goal?
  • Has the goal been partially or fully achieved because of the contestant’s personal efforts?


6. PROJECT OVERALL IMPACT 

  • Has the project's efforts resulted in any societal changes?
  • What will happen in the impacted community if the project's goals are met?
  • Does the contestant present any data or other facts to indicate the project's progress to date?


7. PROJECT SCALABILITY 

  • Could the project have a possible continuation/development after the initial goals are met?
  • Could the project be taken to an international level?
